sluuuuDD!!

Whew. Tired. Bike ride from work was freezing, and for now it's japanese metal until B gets here, then out for b33r. So what have I been up to, you may be wondering? Well, it's a tough life; while not preparing for a baby, or traveling around Europe, or doing glorious secret things in Korea, or even... reducing the pleroma to a mathematical equation, it certainly hasn't been just traipsing around in the daisies over here. No sir! Well, it has been a little. School certainly has been. Work has been fair. Leisure, well, that's what we take care of tonight. All right! Tonite. Just right. I'll have to post more once my brain regains... working. ness.

the spreading sadistic grin of recognition

An interesting thing has been happening in Physics class lately. We're studying thermodynamics and energy, so somehow the teacher leads that into sources of energy, and our actual energy usage, and the chemistry and economics of it all. He's slowly building this picture for the slow among us, those who may still need our decaf at 10am, using charts and graphs, explaining meticulouly things like exponential functions, and even going into chemical equations to mount a case for the idea that with depleting oil supplies, overpopulation, and massive suburban sprawl we are all, in fact, utterly fucked. And I think that's awesome. Especially how he's taking his time on each and every aspect - you can tell how badly he wants every freshman idiot to fully comprehend our impending doom. Weeeeeeeeee!

Something about this is just stunningly beautiful, when you think about it. Small color differences. Hm.

yet another great moment in human history

Last night before work I made a tuna sandwich, and I like honey mustard on those guys (it's delicious, I promise); so when I was shaking the plastic bottle to, you know, get the mustard out, I got a little all over the place. And, that's the story of the time I got a great glob of mustard on the back of my head. Solitary human, just making a sandwich. It was crunchy all night long.

Bombs away, but we're okay

Monday I gave a 1h 45m presentation in my communication theory class on Constructivism; this (extended) action was so antithetical to my nature that I still have this weird feeling/sensation, like someone has reversed my polarity from ingress to egress. Which is a fantastic feeling, but upsets my equilibrium/homeostasis just a little. I'm on edge, but coming down.

The best part of my presentation was the film example I used, supposed to illustrate the process of message formation using procedural records - the scene from Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey where they're trying to get into heaven, and quote the Poison song. "Every rose has its thorn...." The teacher was not pleased at first, but the class thought it was hilarious so she relented. Huzzah!

Anyway the weather here is beautiful today, and tonight promises board games & beer. Man, this sunlight is getting my hopes up for summer, which since we'll be back in fertile Tacoma (where the soil is black, like my heart) should be one long continuous groove. Much like a Pink Floyd LP.

The sea is angry today

In world mythology one of my favorite devices is in the Egyptian Papyrus of Ani: the model human soul (Osiris standing in) has his heart weighed on the scale of Maat against a feather, and if it is too heavy then the deceased may not enter the afterlife. Such a beautiful metaphor; a clear conscience and lightheartedness entitle you to, well, more of same. Not sure why that's been on my mind lately, maybe something about chaos and dancing stars.

For those seeking free tax filing, and annoyed beyond capacity for rational thought at the labyrinthine TurboTax site's insidious... -ness, go to:

I got fed up with looking for this place, so I figured I'd save anyone else the trouble.

Ok. Be excellent to each other.
