wheels and other circles

Trekked to Bellingham yesterday, took care of school advising and lunch with Jared. Good to see the place again, I missed being surrounded by forest and lakes, plus it still feels like home. And then when it was time to go Tacoma felt like home, too. Eventually home will be everywhere: that's the goal. On a similar note last night Braden flew back from NY, so the gang's all (partially) here again, ready to throw down for the last huzzah or seven of the summer.

Which, have I mentioned, I'm quite happy with. This summer has met & exceeded expectations for merrymaking and revelry, to say nothing of general shenanigans. Although last year was quiet and a bit isolated, so maybe it's just a matter of contrast. Anyway I will cross the LaborDay threshold this year satisfied and ready for the cooler cloudier weather, having plundered sun and warmth for all its surfeit. That, and Bumbershoot will fucken rock.

a river could be loved

H & I had dinner with my mum & Casey last night at their favorite haunt, Nifty's 50s, live music from sad-sounding, hard-rocking coverband "Gray Skies Falling" - lots of fun! We discussed plans for the coming fall, including a possible Day of the Dead celebration, which may just end up an optionmas-a-tized Halloween; I'll post more as the idea develops.

The past week has been slow, nice and quiet, a recovery from the previous 2 weeks of family and travel. Although I have to say sometimes the vacuum left by said stress can breed boredom. Guess it's the ebb & flow that keeps you on your toes.

Might be heading up to B'ham this week, need to register for my final class (is the short version). Sheesh. Meanwhile, late-August heat, swaying trees, where's my mint julep?

this is what you get

Fun weekend ahead - leaving friday for Someplace, Oregon for H's extended fam's annual camping trip tradition funtime extravaganza. Grandparents heading out monday early. What have I been doing, you ask? Mainly entertaining the g'rents, enjoying the weather, drinking lots of jambas, and uh, work. Mind is a little scattered lately. Eventpoints of inspiration are sparse. Evangelion, Grant Morrison, Dante. My work situation in fall is giving me grief; just I've been getting this strong feeling like a step backward is a bad idea right now. Anyway fun times sounds good. I could use some of those.
